Responsibilities
* Lead and attend project reviews / project meetings
* Maintain awareness of the Digital Briefcase
* Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries, etc.)
* Prepare internal and external reports and liaise with stakeholders
* Ensure reports contain relevant information to enable informed, cost‑effective decisions in line with overall strategy
* Ensure scope and package assignment supports coordinated working
* Specify, develop and implement technical information and drawings into delivery
* Specify plant and equipment requirements
* Maintain a relentless focus on Zero Harm and keep up to date with changes in legislation
* Responsible for safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain
* Carry out safety & environmental tours and promote observation and safety initiatives
* Conduct and support accident/incident investigations
* Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement solutions
* Write and review RAMS and accept subcontractor RAMS
* Identify, raise and report risks and hazards
* Ensure sufficiency and competency of workforce
* Control and issue safety documentation
* Complete audits
* Set people to work
* Assist the Project Manager to lead risk/opportunity reviews, present the risk register and recommend/implement changes
* Log and escalade issues that cannot be resolved at delegated level of authority
* Manage subcontractors, including monitoring contractor attendance and progress, providing direct instruction and support as necessary to achieve contractual arrangements
* Ensure procurement plans are available in line with overall project plans and that material/resources/supply chain activities deliver targets/KPIs in line with objectives and monitor performance
* Ensure assurance activities (audits) are undertaken and take appropriate action on findings
* Contribute to workshops covering continuous improvement principles to meet scheduled deadlines
* Help develop, implement and periodically update resource loaded schedules
* Ensure team adopts productivity and project controls techniques
* Monitor progress and implement short interval control processes; hold weekly meetings
* Ensure production of operational milestones reflect master schedule and customer expectations
* Develop and update resource allocation plans and raise appropriate requests
Qualifications & Experience
* Organised, innovative and creative Project Engineer with knowledge of commercial/project management communications
* Experience in implementing safe systems of work
* Experience managing risks and change processes through a solutions‑based approach to problem solving
* Good interpersonal skills enabling development of working relationships at all levels across business and ability to negotiate and influence
* Ability to discuss ideas and plans competently and with confidence
* Communicates new concepts and ideas to technical and non‑technical stakeholders
* Awareness and promotion of diversity and inclusion benefits
* Resilience and determination to succeed
* Proactively develops others including junior team members
* Proficient with O365
* Holds or is working towards a formal qualification in construction/engineering or equivalent industry experience; holds or desires to work towards APM PFQ/PMQ
* Holds CSCS and SMSTS or equivalent
