Job Purpose As a Pricing Manager within Jewson Partnership Solutions [JPS], you will work as part of a team, on the pricing element of a range of projects and tenders, for JPS. Project values vary from small The role sits within our JPS Bid Team and the primary purpose of the role is to help win new business and retain existing customers, working in conjunction with JPS colleagues in Sales, Bid and the STARK Category Teams, along with key external supplier contacts. Requests come primarily from the Public Sector, but also from National House-builders and Contractors. The successful candidate will be required to project manage their assignments – with the support and guidance from their Team Manager – from initial receipt of the request through to submission. You will be required to: To win and retain customers through the provision of accurate, competitive and timely completion of Pricing Schedules, which maximize sales and margin. Complete work to strict deadlines. Keep up to date with Business and industry intelligence relating to company products, prices and services, as well as competitor activity and new products entering the market. Create an effective network and build relationships with colleagues to call upon if required to support you in achieving a deadline - Adapt style for different team members to maximise their output. Know at all times where we are against deadlines and communicate accordingly, managing these deadlines. Delivering high standards of work ensuring all schedules are free from errors and professionally presented. You will have a proven track record of working and thriving in a very busy multi-activity level environment. Product knowledge is a key driver in this role. Part of your daily routine will be to demonstrate your breadth of knowledge in the Public Sector R&M (repairs and maintenance) field by analysing customer product descriptions and using your knowledge (and experience), inhouse EPOS systems and online search engines, to identify the products that would be the best match to the customers’ requirements in terms of, accuracy, price point and availability. Candidates with experience in a General Builder’s Merchant environment or a similar setting and are familiar with finding solutions for customers is highly beneficial and will set you apart from other applicants. Intermediate experience in Excel is helpful in this role as it is the main software tool we use in our daily work Essential Ability to work flexibly and manage multiple priorities often to tight deadlines. Good time-management and organisation skills. Good numeracy skills with an eye for detail and accuracy. Background in building distribution or the construction industry - Product knowledge. Excellent research and interpretation skills. Ability to work without close supervision. Excellent communication skills at all levels (written and verbal). Must be a team player. Desirable Industry Experience. Public Sector knowledge - Experience of the Public Sector tendering process. CRM / Database Experience. Excellent IT skills – Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Experience gained from working in pricing, estimating or tendering environment. A proven understanding of the principles of pricing/estimating. Strong GCSE and/or A level results.
