Job Description:
The Department of Physics at the University of Oxford, located at Parks Road, Oxford, OX1 3PU, is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Condensed Matter Physics. This is a fixed-term position for 2 years.
The successful candidate will join a research group focused on studying the spin-resolved electronic structures of quantum materials, such as topological quantum materials and unconventional magnetic systems. The research will utilize conventional and spatially resolved angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) with spin resolution.
The post holder will provide guidance to less experienced team members, including PhD and project students. Applicants should possess (or be close to obtaining) a PhD/DPhil in condensed matter physics and have a strong background in ARPES and synchrotron radiation technology. Prior experience with spin-resolved ARPES or setting up and maintaining ARPES spectrometers will be advantageous.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to independently carry out research projects, operate modern ARPES endstations for studying the electronic structures of crystalline materials both in Oxford and at external user facilities, and process resulting data.
