We are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Maintenance Engineer to join our team specializing in Maintenance within our Darlington Engine business. During your apprenticeship with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an industry expert and power your potential!
Course Overview
The Maintenance Engineer Apprentice role is a development position within the Maintenance department. During the apprenticeship, you will work shifts from 8am to 4:30pm, and on Fridays from 8am to 1:30pm, four days per week within the plant and one day a week at Teesside University studying towards a degree in Electrical/Electronic Technical Support Engineering. This role is 100% onsite and requires travel to Teesside University for studies.
Responsibilities
* Learn troubleshooting, assembling, installing, testing, maintaining, and improving mechanical and electrical systems.
* Follow safety protocols thoroughly.
* Maximize equipment uptime to support production throughput and quality.
* Work with the latest technology, including Robots, Cobots, PLCs, Vision Systems, and Automated Delivery Systems.
* Understand machine safety standards and regulations such as Puwer.
* Deliver improvement projects to enhance department performance.
* Collaborate within a diverse team to make Darlington the best Powertrain Campus globally.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grades 9-4 (A*-C), including Mathematics, English Language, and one Science or Engineering subject.
* At least 96 UCAS points at Level 3, including Mathematics. Other STEM subjects like Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Physics are preferred but not mandatory.
* Other Level 3 STEM qualifications or vocational equivalents will also be considered.
* Functional Skills Level 2 or higher may be considered equivalent to GCSE Grade 4.
