Your role will be to inspect highways against a scheduled programme, record dangerous defects that meet the threshold in line with our Code of Practice. You will raise jobs through our Highways Contractor to repair defects under section 58 of the Highways Act 1980, to ensure that the highway is kept in a safe condition for all road users. Highway inspections entail visiting areas of our highway network in a works van and undertaking inspections either on foot or driven in all weather conditions across the borough of Cheshire West and Chester. You will be provided with a Council van and be out of the office each day carrying out your inspections of the highway. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent observation skills who is conscientious. The role requires good time management skills, an ability to work on your own initiative and support the team in meeting tight deadlines. The contractual work location for this role will be the Area Highways Office in Winsford. The role is flexible, and this means that the successful candidate may be required to work from a range of work locations within the Borough but predominantly from the Winsford area office.
