An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, enthusiastic, motivated,and hard-working Pharmacy Technician to join our reputable GP practice.
Main duties of the job
You would be required to provide an efficient and friendly service toall our patients, and to provide effective support to our doctors and membersof the clinical team.
This role will be focused on aligning repeat prescriptions, involvementin medicine optimisation and reviews. You will be required to organise relevantinvestigations related to medicine: acting on hospital and discharge letters aswell as meeting relevant prescribing targets ensuring safe, clinicallyeffective, cost-efficient use of medications. You will need experience with QOFand clinical audits.

Our team comprises of 5 Doctors, 2 Clinical Pharmacist, 3 Physiotherapist,2 Nurses, 1 Phlebotomist/HCA, 2 Prescription Clerks, 8 Receptionists/Administrators,2 Practice Manager, 1 Reception Manager and 1 Secretary.

Job responsibilities
Key responsibilities:
1. Contributing to the provision of safe and effective pharmacy services.
2. Undertaking medicines reconciliation in line with practice protocols and standard operating procedures to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of prescriptions and repeat prescriptions.
3. Responding to patients questions both face to face and over the phone; referring problems or queries to the GPs.
4. Participating in patient reviews and updating of patient records via clinics in the practice, domiciliary visits and in nursing and residential care homes.
5. Checking the accuracy of medicines for prescriptions.
6. Participating in medication audits.
7. Providing advice and information to GPs, staff, and patients to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality, cost-effectiveness, and the appropriate use of medicines to get the best outcomes for patients.
8. Taking responsibility for contributing to all aspects of the day-to-day management of the working environment including communication, data accuracy and management.
9. To support and promote a safe working environment in accordance with Health & Safety and Infection Control policies.
10. To respect and protect patient confidentiality and information.
11. Keeping up to date with professional responsibilities and CPD requirements.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
12. registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
13. the specific qualification and training requirements as specified by the GPhC criteria76 to register as a Pharmacy Technician
14. c.enrolled in, undertaking, or qualified from, an approved training pathway. For example, the Primary Care Pharmacy Educational Pathway (PCPEP) or Medicines Optimisation in Care Homes (MOCH) or courses approved by the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK) as meeting the requirements of the UK-wide APTUK/PCPA National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians; and
15. d. is working under appropriate clinical supervision to ensure safe, effective, and efficient use of medicines.
