Residential Support Worker (Waking Nights)
Salary: £23,151.50 to £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire
Contract/Hours: Permanent/Full-time - 37 hours a week

About the service
Sycamore House is a residential care home providing accommodation and support for children and young people aged 5-18 years with physical and learning disabilities.
We provide a homely, welcoming, and fun environment where young people feel safe and free to develop their own sense of self. Your skills, passions, and interests could help us continue achieving this. Whether it's gaming, creating origami animals, or exploring nature, you can inspire our children.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
The role of waking nights Residential Support Worker involves providing care and support to our young people during the night. This position is crucial in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children, as well as promoting their independence and personal development.
You will monitor the children throughout the night, assist with any needs that arise, and provide a comforting presence. Your responsibilities may include helping with personal care routines, administering medication, and ensuring a safe environment. You will also engage with the children through activities and support their emotional needs, fostering a positive atmosphere.
This role requires patience, empathy, and a strong understanding of the challenges faced by children with disabilities. You will work closely with a team of professionals to follow individualised care plans and contribute to each child's development.
No prior experience in a similar role is necessary; your personality and personal values matter most. If you are passionate about creating brighter futures, this could be the perfect role for you.
Ideally, you will:
* Understand how to engage with young people
* Have a positive approach and 'can do' attitude
* Be able to work independently and as part of a team
* Be prepared to complete a Level 3 in Residential Childcare within 2 years of starting, with full support provided

* Experience working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust
* Skills in coordinating and communicating with service users and families
* A solution-focused approach to addressing problems, both individually and in teams
* Emotional resilience to handle challenging aspects of the role
* A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognized equivalent), or willingness to complete it within 2 years with full support
