Job overview
The post holder will supervise a team of staff delivering portering, domestic cleaning and site services at Furness General Hospital, in line with National Cleaning Standards, departmental SOPs and Trust Policies. To ensure a high standard of Patient Environment Site services across facilities and to provide excellent customer service to patients, colleagues and the public. Communicate effectively with hospital staff and the public. This position is part time and includes shifts including weekends.
Main duties of the job
* Provide supervision, support, training and development to Patient Environment Service Assistants.
* Carry out administration duties in line with the job role, departmental procedures and Trust policies. Carry out own team appraisals and attend return to work sickness and review meetings as required.
* Prioritise workload and location of staff to provide a quality and efficient service.
* Arrange duty rotas, plan and allocate holiday requests. Cover sickness and operate within departmental financial constraints with management approval.
* Ensure correct usage of approved cleaning materials to manufacturer specifications and COSHH data sheets.
* Review and audit work to ensure compliance with work schedules, national cleanliness standards and Trust policies.

Working for our organisation
We operate from Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, and community premises across the area. FGH, RLI and WGH offer a range of general hospital services, with various facilities and acute care services. Local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities.
Education and Qualifications
* Relevant NVQ 2 or equivalent experience or British Institute Cleaning Science (BICS) qualification in cleaning sciences
* Certificate in COSHH
* Award in Risk Assessment
* Gas safety awareness certificate
* Certificate in Health and Safety
Experience
* Experience leading a team in a busy environment; teamwork skills
* Relevant supervisory experience
* Experience working with computer IT-based systems
* Knowledge of cleaning in a large/healthcare setting
* Knowledge of acute hospital environment
* Knowledge of customer care
* Knowledge of medical gas handling
