Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation & Controls Engineer with experience in instrumentation, control systems, process engineering, and mechanical integration. This role involves designing, specifying, procuring, and implementing instrumentation systems across all project phases—from conceptual design to commissioning.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities and challenging deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and maintain project documents (Instrument Location Plans, I/O Lists, Equipment Database, Control Panel Layouts, Schematics, Loop Diagrams).
• Create and manage equipment datasheets, specifications, and bid packages.
• Specify and select suitable instrumentation for various chemical and mechanical applications, including installation details, materials of construction.
• Support procurement through vendor selection and technical bid evaluations.
• Participate in the design and execution of automated systems and control strategies.
• Commission instrumentation systems onsite, ensuring compliance with hazardous area classifications (intrinsically safe, explosion-proof).
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate mechanical, process, and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot analog/discrete signals and communication types (HART, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet I/P, Modbus).
• Perform service work and troubleshooting for control systems using multimeters and other diagnostic tools.
• Travel regionally during project commissioning phases.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering.
• Knowledge of hazardous area classification and UL-508A industrial control panel standards.
• Understanding of DCS/PLC hardware and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access, Project).
• Experience with Procore, BlueBeam PDF, and SocketWorx smart P&ID.
