Arriva Traincare have an exciting opportunity for a Operations and Safety Standards Manager to join the team based in Crewe. You will be a Rail Depot Operations Standards expert, responsible for leading ATC Operations Policies and Standards development, review and change management process ensuring best practice and any lessons learnt are imbedded, and where possible standardising across all locations.

Contract: Permanent contract working an average of 37.5 hours per week however there will be a requirement to work nights as and when required.
What will I be doing as a Operations Standards Manager?
Responsible for keeping industry operational standards and safety investigation recommendations under constant review and delivery of any applicable changes within ATC. Responsible for Plan, Do, Check, Act cycle for operational incident recommendations.
Act as lead investigator for significant operational incidents, identifying root cause, producing high quality reports for both internal and external bodies and ensuring recommendations are communicated and tracked to closure. Duties will include but not limited to:
1. Review existing policies are suitable and sufficient and where necessary create new policies and procedures during mobilisation stage of new projects.
2. Create confidence and team working throughout ATC by delivering a high level of proactive support to the Operational Management Teams.
3. Lead the process to challenge, review and enhance ATC’s operational standards and procedures identifying opportunities to improve safety and new initiatives to reduce costs.
4. Ensure regular operational safety briefs are produced and that the quality of the briefs enhances safety performance throughout.
5. Responsible for keeping industry operational standards and safety investigation recommendations under constant review and delivery of any applicable changes within ATC.
6. Drive continuous improvement and innovation in operational activities. Support the development of the depots, in line with the ATC policy of continuous improvement and drive continuous improvement innovations.
7. Lead on review and assurance of local operational procedures to ensure consistency, deliverability and adherence to overall policy and standards.
8. Undertake operational investigations for serious incidents, producing reports and ensuring recommendations are communicated and tracked to closure.
9. Undertake audits against operational policies, standards and procedures across all ATC locations and ensure action plans are in place with regular review to close out post-audits.
10. Develop and report on suite of KPIs relating to operational policy and standards compliance.
11. Provide professional support and guidance to all operational managers within the business in regard to operational policy and standards.
12. Support with disciplinaries/appeals relating to operational incidents when required.
What will I need to be considered for this Operations Standards Manager role?
13. Previous experience in management of depot operations with proven professional operational achievements.
14. Thorough knowledge of all relevant industry legislation and standards relating to depot operations.
15. NEBOSH Certificate
16. A recognised Lead audit qualification.
17. A full and valid driving licence is essential as travel across Arriva Train Care sites is required
18. Experience of investigating operational incidents
19. Knowledge and understanding of RM3 (Risk Management Maturity Model).
20. Prepared to work within various geographical areas
21. Good Microsoft 365 knowledge
