Assembly Technician (12‑week Temp → Perm) Contract: 12‑week temporary assignment with strong potential to go permanent Hours: Mon-Thu 08:00-16:30; Fri 08:00-12:30 Location: North West (Greater Manchester area) About the Employer A long‑established UK manufacturer supplying precision turned components to UK and international markets. The Role You'll assemble, finish and quality‑check small mechanical components and valve sub‑assemblies used across engineering applications. Typical work includes bench assembly, fitting, torquing, and functional checks of precision parts and compact valve products produced via UK machining and finishing operations. Key Responsibilities Mechanical assembly: Build sub‑assemblies and finished units from drawings/work instructions using hand and power tools (press‑fits, torquing, staking, thread‑locking). Valve & component build: Assemble small industrial valve products and precision turned parts, following standard operating procedures (SOPs). [(url removed)] Quality control: Carry out in‑process and final inspections (visual, dimensional) using calipers, micrometers, thread/plug gauges; record results in line with ISO 9001 procedures. Documentation: Complete build records, test sheets and traceability logs accurately. Continuous improvement & 5S: Keep benches, tools and cells tidy; flag build issues and suggest improvements. Safety & compliance: Follow H&S procedures, use PPE correctly, and handle materials safely.What You'll Need Essential Proven hands‑on mechanical assembly experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read engineering drawings, follow work instructions and use standard metrology tools. Strong attention to detail and a right‑first‑time mindset within a formal quality system (ISO 9001).Desirable Experience assembling precision turned parts and/or small industrial valves. Familiarity with basic pressure/leak checks and documenting results to SOPs. Knowledge of 5S/lean practices.Qualifications Apprenticeship/NVQ (L2/L3) in Mechanical/Manufacturing or equivalent experience (preferred)
