Job Details
The Community Occupational Therapy team forms part of East Lothian Rehabilitation Service (ELRS), an integrated service within East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership. The ELRS service comprises Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Community Care Workers and Assistant Practitioners across three cluster bases.
Community Occupational Therapists play a crucial role in assessment of and planning intervention to support people in reaching their goals. This may include rehabilitation, treatment planning, assessment for small equipment and minor adaptations and when required longer term intervention assessing for major adaptations and equipment. The service has a major adaptations team which supports design and progression of major adaptations to owner‑occupied properties. The service provides a mix of short‑term crisis work and longer‑term complex cases.
We are looking for a full‑time Community Occupational Therapist to join our forward‑thinking, dynamic team. Located in one of the cluster bases (East Lothian Community Hospital, John Muir House or Musselburgh Primary Care Centre), our service is committed to developing effective and efficient ways of enabling people affected by disability to achieve their personal outcomes.
The post holder will work with a mix of short‑term crisis work and longer‑term complex cases in the cluster teams, allowing a variety of case work and helping balance the workload.
The post is with the Major Adaptations Team and will involve longer‑term working with those who have complex needs to support design and progression of major adaptations to property.
It would be advantageous to have a broad range of knowledge; however training can and will be provided where required. We have a wonderful supportive team and work closely with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, social workers, community care workers and telecare team.
You must hold an Occupational Therapy Diploma or Degree Qualification to apply and be registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Highlights of the Role
* Provide a responsive and needs‑led Occupational Therapy service.
* Ensure appropriate services are provided to meet clients' needs in accordance with the Council's statutory obligations and department policies and procedures.
