Salary: £30,000 per annum
Hours: 40 hours per week (including evenings and weekends as required)

Martley Cricket Club/Tap and Run is a thriving community club with a strong social calendar and a welcoming clubhouse at its heart. The bar plays a key role in match days, social events, village life and private functions, and we are looking for an experienced and motivated Bar Manager to lead its day-to-day operation.
Role Overview
The Bar Manager will be responsible for the efficient, profitable, and compliant running of the club bar. This includes staff management, stock control, customer service, and ensuring a friendly, safe, and well-run environment for our customers.
Key Responsibilities
Bar Operations
● Manage the day-to-day running of the bar, ensuring high standards of service at all times
● Open and close the bar as required
● Ensure compliance with all licensing laws, health & safety, and food hygiene regulations
Staff Management
● Recruit, train, supervise, and rota bar staff and volunteers
● Lead by example, creating a positive and professional team culture
● Manage staff performance and address issues promptly and fairly
Stock & Financial Control
● Order, receive, and manage stock, minimising waste and controlling costs including restocking of barrels in cellar
● Maintain accurate stock records and carry out regular stock takes
● Handle cash, card systems, and daily till reconciliation
● Work with the club committee to maximise bar profitability
Customer Experience
● Create a welcoming atmosphere for our customers
● Handle customer queries and complaints professionally
● Support and promote club events, match days, and social functions
Club Liaison
● Work closely with the Club Committee to align bar operations with club needs
● Assist in planning and delivering social events and private bookings
Person Specification
Essential
● Previous experience managing a bar or licensed premises
● Strong knowledge of licensing laws and responsible alcohol service
● Excellent leadership and communication skills
● Good organisational and financial management skills
● Flexibility to work evenings and weekends
Desirable
● Personal Licence Holder (or willingness to obtain)
● Experience working in a sports club or members' club environment
● First Aid and Food Hygiene qualifications
