Housing Adviser - £16.52/hr for 35 hrs/wk
Ayr Housing Aid Centre (AHAC) are a registered Charity established in, converting to SCIO in. Our main aims and objectives are to delay and or prevent homeless, encouraging people to enforce their housing rights and responsibilities through empowerment while alleviating poverty. In we became the only agency in South Ayrshire accredited under the Scottish National Standards to provide Type I, II & III Free, Independent Housing Information, Advice, Advocacy and Representation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, non-judgemental and organised individual with a can do attitude who will become part of our highly respected Scottish National Standards Accredited Advice Team. You will provide free, confidential and impartial Housing Advice and Advocacy and have an understanding of early intervention and homeless prevention opportunities and actions. You will assist vulnerable people who are homeless or are at risk of homelessness and help to alleviate poverty with compassion and kindness.
As part of the team, you and your peers will be provided with support to enable you to empower service users to prevent their homelessness and enforce their rights. Management and peer case reviews assist in ensuring quality, consistency, and prompt in house team training. You will assist service users to have the knowledge required to make informed choice on housing and poverty related issues across all housing sectors including Tribunal representation.
Full training will be given, however, it is expected that applicants will have experience and knowledge of housing and homeless legislation and policy and a comprehensive understanding of Benefits, income maximisation and grant to relieve poverty. You should have excellent IT and communication skills, including experience maintaining accurate records and data/statistics input to ensure compliance with contract KPI and Scottish National Standards. Use of a car and driving licence is essential.
