Wood is looking to recruit a Principal Piping Engineer to join our multi-discipline, multi-client Engineering and Design Hub in Aberdeen. We work across all phases of project life cycle from front end concept studies, through Pre-FEED, FEED, EPCC and Decommissioning. The successful applicant will use their technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce Engineering deliverables including complex problems. Completes almost any engineering tasks with minimal guidance and direction. May serve as the primary discipline engineer or discipline technical authority on projects with small to medium complexity. Executing Assigned Scopes of Work: Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects Ensures successful completion of the assigned project / phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work Evaluates problems, organizes investigations and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc Check Engineering calculations as well as check all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement Participate in audits and incident investigations as required Organising and active participation in design reviews Providing discipline expertise: Solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches As necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations Produces innovative ideas and solves problems requiring development of new approaches or new uses for existing approaches Consistently called on to use creativity and professional judgement to formulate results based on engineering standards, experience and constructive thinking Anticipates potential problems and takes the initiative to solve complex problems through creative thinking and use of internal and external resource Understands customer needs and applies technical solutions to meet goals Provide appropriate HSSE leadership including compliance with site and office safety requirements and technical / design safety requirement Minimum Qualifications: ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum) or Level 7 Masters (preferred) Degree in engineering discipline, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence Chartership or relevant professional engineer status accredited by a national or industry engineering institution preferred Role-Specific Skills and Knowledge: Ability to provide guidance and direction to project team, managing, motivating and mentoring professional engineering specialists Ability to discover issues and recommend solutions to technical and commercial issues uncovered during course of performing assignments Proficient user of relevant software and calculation templates Professional level of ability in the application of standards, processes and procedures and how they are used in work execution Professional level of knowledge of applicable codes and standards Maintains own knowledge of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments Applies professional knowledge and experience to assignments where issues and factors to be considered may be characterized by unsual demands and require additional evaluation to establish the nature and scope of the problem Demonstrated skills in persuasion, negotiation, motivation and communication Solutions-oriented and creative, able to apply process and rigour to deliver quality solutions Enthusiastic, conscientious and committed to continuous professional development Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Highly motivated and demonstrates personal initiative
