We Recruit Group is excited to be working with ones of the UKs leading multi-disciplinary construction consultancies that operates across the country. With major industry changes driven by the Building Safety Act, this business has made significant investment in expanding its Building Regulations Principal Designer service and is now looking to appoint an experienced design or building control professional to help lead that journey.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Building Control Surveyor, Building Inspector, Architect, or Design Manager who wants to step into a client-facing consultancy role with genuine long-term progression.
Youll join their established building safety team, delivering the Building Regulations Principal Designer function across a diverse range of projects within the built environment, including residential (public and private), heritage, HRBs, commercial, leisure, hotel, and office developments with a particular focus on major projects, high-value master planning, and multi-million-pound schemes.
The consultancy already has a strong pipeline of secured work and several major tenders underway, making this an excellent time to join a business with real momentum.
This role would suit someone with solid a understanding of building regulations, who enjoys working closely with clients, solving problems, and providing practical guidance on compliance across complex developments.
The Role
As the BRPD, youll play a key role in supporting clients through the planning, design, and construction process, ensuring projects remain compliant with current legislation and building safety requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparing technical reports and compliance documentation
* Advising clients on the Building Safety Act and ensuring compliance across projects
* Supporting clients through the relevant planning gateways
* Creating and managing compliance trackers for Building Regulations and BSA requirements
* Reviewing plans submitted for Building Regulation approval
* Liaising with Principal Designers, Principal Contractors, Fire Engineers, MEP, Architects and wider project teams
* Attending client and design team meetings to provide professional advice on compliance matters
* Providing technical guidance to clients, contractors, developers, and key stakeholders
* Ensuring projects are delivered in line with current Building Regulations, legislation, and industry best practice
What Were Looking For
* Previous experience as a Building Control Surveyor, Building Inspector, Architect, Design Manager or similar role
* Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture, or similar discipline (desirable, not essential)
* Professional membership e.g RIBA, CABE, RICS etc.
* Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Building Regulations, associated legislation, and compliance frameworks
* Registered Building Inspector or RIBA PD Registered (desirable).
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* A confident, professional, and solutions-focused approach
