Areyou passionate about making a difference with complex and high-risk individualsin the criminal justice system?

Weare looking for a skilled and motivated psychological professional to join oursmall and friendly Bridging the Gap Team.

Bridgingthe Gap is an Intensive Intervention and Risk Management Service (IIRMS) todeliver individually tailored and psychologically informed Interventions tohigh risk male and female adults on probation across North Yorkshire andHumberside.

Thisis a unique opportunity to manage a specialist caseload, deliver and evaluateevidence-based interventions, and contribute to psychologically informed careplanning in a multi-agency context.

Youllact as a clinical expert within the Offender Personality Disorder (OPD)pathway, supporting colleagues through consultation, supervision, and training,while also helping to shape service development and best practice.

Thesuccessful candidate will be required to attend CFT and DBT training andundergo training to deliver EMDR as part of our intervention offer.


Main duties of the job

Working with adults on probation across North Yorkshire andHumberside, you will provide specialist psychologicalassessment, intervention, and manage risk of serious harm andreoffending and promote psychological well-being and socialengagement.

You will hold a caseload of clients, support team formulation,provide clinical supervision and contribute to servicedevelopment and staff training.As part of our intervention offer you will deliver EMDR

Job responsibilities

To manage a highly specialised caseload of adult probation clients who areassessed as presenting with complex risk and needs.

To assess and monitor risk and develop interventions to manage risk forindividual clients, and contribute to multi-disciplinary care planning around risk,in line with organisational and inter-agency policies and procedures.

To evaluate treatment outcomes with clients, selecting appropriately validatedpsychometric measures and other assessment techniques.

To convey highly complex and specialist information to clients and significantothers/relevant workers within the Criminal Justice system and other partnerorganisations.

To act as a clinical expert in the field of psychological therapy and toprovide advice and consultation on clients psychological care and riskmanagement to BtG colleagues and stakeholders.

To liaise with professionals from other health and criminal justice servicesregarding a clients psychological care. To include building links with Probationand other services working with clients in the pathway and sharing ideas andproviding support to encourage psychologically informed and consistent support.

To help develop complex formulations for people on probation assessed asposing a high or very high risk of serious harm based upon a range of theoreticalperspectives.

To provide formal supervision on psychological interventions to BtG colleaguesand trainee therapists as agreed with the clinical lead and as appropriate to thegrade.

To work autonomously within professional guidelines, Bridging the Gap policiesand procedures and the overall framework of the Intensive Intervention and RiskManagement Service. To be accountable for own actions and decisions withoutdirect or day to day supervision or support.

To contribute to and help develop robust mechanisms for audit, data collectionand clinical governance.

To contribute to the development of psychological intervention skills andknowledge within the Service and within Bridging the Gap.

To contribute to policy development and service development as appropriate tothe grade and in line with the standards set by the OPD Commissioners.

To ensure client records and other information systems are completed accuratelyand within agreed timescales.

To ensure that support undertaken is meaningful, respectful, promotes self-determination and is in line with the individual formulation and Intervention plan.

To contribute to the achievement of annually set individual and team targets.

To participate in regular Line Management and Clinical supervision.

To support and contribute to a positive client-led service culture and philosophy.

To be involved in the development of training to partners involved in the OPDPathway.

To maintain accreditation with the appropriate professional body, i.e. HCPC,attend Compassion Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy trainingand undergo training to deliver Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing.

Ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) bymanaging, processing, and safeguarding personal data in accordance with legalrequirements including conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs).


Person Specification

* Demonstrate a good understanding of and active commitment to

* Demonstrate a commitment to supporting clients to take an active
* role in shaping the services they receive.


Qualifications

* Masters or Doctoral level training in clinical/forensic psychology,
* and accredited membership by the HCPC as a Practitioner
* Psychologist or holding post-graduate psychotherapy training with
* BACP or UKCP registration.
* Training should include models of psychopathology, psychological therapies, developmental psychology and an ability to assess and manage risk within a positive risk-taking framework
* Post-qualification training in clinical supervision


Experience

* Experience of delivering psychological therapy to people
* presenting with a range of difficulties and clinical presentations.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients
* psychological care and treatment as an autonomous psychological
* therapist.
* Experience of work within a forensic setting.
* Experience of multi-disciplinary team working.
* Experience of working with individuals demonstrating personality
* difficulties, or traits associated with Personality Disorder in a
* forensic setting.
* Experience of providing teaching, training and/or clinical
* supervision.
* Experience evaluating clinical practice and participating in
* research and clinical audits.
* Experience of housing / homelessness/ offending or mental health
* either as a service user, carer, worker or volunteer


Knowledge & Skills

* Able to communicate in a highly skilled and sensitive manner to
* clients
* Excellent verbal and written communication and IT skills, with a
* strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, to effectively
* communicate in various ways to different stakeholders e.g. social
* media
* Able to self-manage, effectively plan and prioritise tasks and
* consistently deliver results.
* Creative, flexible and imaginative approach to working with people
* with complex profiles/personality difficulties/ a diagnosis of
* personality disorder.
* A good understanding of the principles of the OPD Pathway and
* IIRMS.
* Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups.
* Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group, criminal
* justice and mental health.
* Hold a valid UK driving licence (or one permitting driving in the UK)
* and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
