About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and committed Social Work Team Manager to lead our Referral & Assessment Team in Bromley. This is a crucial leadership role that will enable you to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families within the community. You will be responsible for overseeing the team’s operations, ensuring high-quality assessments and interventions while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment.
As a Team Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of social workers and support staff, guiding them in their practice and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and organisational policies. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping service delivery and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead, manage, and supervise a team of social workers and support staff within the Referral & Assessment Team, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
* Ensure that all referrals and assessments are handled promptly and effectively, in line with statutory guidance, policies, and best practice standards.
* Conduct regular supervision and appraisal sessions for team members, providing constructive feedback and support to develop their skills and practice.
* Monitor and evaluate the quality of assessments and interventions, ensuring that the needs of children and families are at the forefront of decision-making processes.
* Develop and implement operational plans and strategies to enhance service delivery, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives and legislative requirements.
* Collaborate with other agencies, including health, education, and voluntary organisations, to ensure coordinated support for children and families.
* Participate in and contribute to multi-agency meetings, child protection conferences, and safeguarding processes, representing the interests of children and families effectively.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of team performance, assessments, and interventions, ensuring compliance with organisational policies and statutory requirements.
* Provide guidance and support to team members on complex cases, promoting reflective practice and ensuring that decisions are evidence-based and child-centred.
* Engage in professional development opportunities, staying informed about developments in legislation, policy, and best practices related to child welfare and social work.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent) from a UK university.
* Registration with Social Work England.
* Significant post-qualification experience in children’s services, with demonstrable experience in referral and assessment processes.
* Proven track record of managing and supervising social work teams, with a strong understanding of performance management and quality assurance.
* Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships and foster collaboration within the team and with external partners.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality practice and achieving positive outcomes for children.
