Description The Service & Team: We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the Charging and Assessment Team as a Finance Assessment Officer. We have one permanent post available. The Charging and Assessment Team is a dynamic and friendly team within The Care and Wellbeing Service. We offer flexible working where you will be expected to work some days in the office but will also have the opportunity to work from home, with occasional visits to service users in the community. When working in the office, you are able to work from one of our offices in either Bodmin, Truro or Camborne. The Role: The team is responsible for undertaking financial assessments, by phone and in person, for individuals receiving care at home or residential services. The role entails a high level of contact with service users both by telephone and email. You will be responsible for liaising directly with service users and their families to conduct financial assessments ensuring they are completed fairly, consistently and promptly. You will also offer funding and welfare benefit advice and liaise with internal and external stakeholders including care providers and operational teams. This is a public/customer-facing role, where the statutory English language requirement for public sector workers applies. This position will be subject to an enhanced criminal record disclosure check. Working Pattern: Monday -Thursday 8.45-17.15 Friday 8.45-16.45 What you’ll need to succeed: The role will require a high level of contact with customers and the applicant will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The applicant should also show attention to detail, be able to work on their own and as part of a team, with a good level of literacy and numeracy skills that can demonstrated by GCSE’s grades 9-4 (A-C) in Maths and English or relevant work experience. You should have experience in the use of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word and Excel) and have experience of diary management, prioritisation and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Adult Social Care and the Department of Work & Pensions benefits is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
