The Post:

We do this by providing a range of specialised support services that enable NHS Boards to focus their efforts on delivering health improvement and patient care. As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale through our leading position in new product development biomedical research and donor / clinical services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards of patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
The Candidate:
Candidates must be a registered NMC nurse and should be educated to Degree level or demonstrate equivalent experience and are required to have extensive Band 5 experience in supporting and supervising learners in practice. The position is within Patient Services, SNBTS Transfusion Team but the role will work across SNBTS/NSS and will be based in one of the SNBTS sites (Edinburgh, Dundee, Aberdeen); however travel throughout Scotland is required. Excellent communication skills and the capacity to adopt a proactive approach to problem solving in order to recognise and pursue opportunities to develop the role are fundamental to the success of the post. The ability to demonstrate initiative and a flexible approach to the workload are essential. The post holder will work with multiple Higher Education Institutes, NHSS Boards and nursing teams across multiple services.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.
Candidates must have current NMC registration at the time of applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
The post will be based at the Jack Copland Centre Edinburgh with hybrid working available.
The work pattern is Monday to Friday, 15 hours per week - working days flexible.
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
