About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a Remote Operations Shift Manager to join a global leader in gas engineering and distribution. Based at the Remote Operations Centre in Rotherham, you’ll be at the heart of optimising production across multiple international sites.
In this 24/7 control room role, you’ll use HMI/SCADA systems (including Siemens PCS7) to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations of industrial gas facilities, including Air Separation Units (ASU), HYCO, and CO₂ plants.
This role offers the chance to lead with influence, drive improvements, and nurture a high-performing team in a dynamic and technically challenging environment.
What You’ll Do
* Oversee safe and efficient 24/7 operation of production plants
* Collaborate with site and supply teams to meet customer demand while managing costs
* Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency responses
* Monitor alarms, investigate performance issues, and track KPIs
* Conduct efficiency reviews and recommend performance improvements
* Produce monthly performance reports and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
* Support onboarding and development of new sites and team members
Essentials – What We’re Looking For
* Minimum HNC in Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or Process discipline
* Strong technical expertise in large-scale industrial processing, including distillation and multi-asset plant operations
* Experience as a Shift Supervisor or Operations Lead, including managing teams, KPI ownership, and safety accountability for multiple production assets outside standard hours
* Proven control room experience in Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, or Pharmaceutical sectors
* Knowledge of fractional distillation, high-pressure transfer schemes, and pipeline operations
* Experience with SCADA/HMI systems (Siemens PCS7 preferred)
* Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process schematics, and PFDs
* Plant commissioning experience is advantageous
* Collaborative, high-integrity approach with a focus on mentoring, coaching, and team development
* An engineering degree is a plus, but not essential if practical experience is strong
