Role Overview
The post includes clinical leadership in digital, online and community services supporting implementation of clinical pathways delivered through digital platforms and lead for HIV clinical policies at Queen Elizabeth Hospital site. This post provides an opportunity to join an established and proactive consultant team to respond to the needs of our growing service.
Key Responsibilities
Provision of a complex and high-quality service in all aspects of contraceptive and sexual health, STI diagnosis and management, Genito-urinary medicine presentations, including syphilis, genital and pelvic pain syndromes, genital dermatology and HIV diagnosis. This will include adoption and maintenance of best practice guidelines as offered by BASHH, BHIVA, FSRH and NICE, and continuing to enhance service profile and engagement with local, regional and national colleagues, groups and networks.
The sexual health service (branded as Umbrella) provides an integrated sexual health service to the entire population of Birmingham and Solihull. The main hub is based at the purpose-built Whittall Street Clinic in Birmingham and there are seven satellite clinic locations across Birmingham and Solihull. The service deals with approximately 100,000 patient episodes per annum. This post also involves working in the HIV service at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital site.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Applicants must be on the GMC specialist register for Community Sexual and Reproductive Health or be eligible for entry onto the register.
* Applicants must hold a licence to practise on the GMC register.
