Overview
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing around 40,000 staff in clinical and non-clinical roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is Wednesday-Friday 08:30-16:30 and Monday/Wednesday/Thursday 08:30-16:30. This post is pro-rata for part-time hours.
Responsibilities
As part of the Vaccination Transformation Programme in Scotland, we have established four teams across NHSGGC to deliver childhood immunisations. The Health and Care Support Worker (HCSW) is required to ensure the smooth running of community clinics, maintain cold chain procedures, order stocks and sundries, and communicate regularly with parents and carers. HCSWs contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of immunisations to children in all areas of Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board.
You will ideally have experience of working with children and an interest in public health, with a desire to work within a small skill-mix team. The post will involve mainly working within community-based clinics, supporting the smooth delivery of childhood immunisations. Excellent communication skills and confidence with IT are essential. Full training will be provided.
We have two posts, each 22.2 hours (3 days), predominantly in Glasgow South/East Renfrew & Northwest/West Dunbartonshire, but all posts are employed by NHSGGC Board and cross-boundary working within the four teams is required at times.
Qualifications and Skills
• Experience with children is preferred; an interest in Public Health and working within a small team is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence using IT.
• Willingness to undertake full training.
