Commercial Manager – Water (MEICA) – Northern Ireland

A leading engineering contractor delivering MEICA solutions to the water and wastewater sector is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join its growing team in Cookstown.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially focused professional to play a key role in the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects across water treatment, wastewater treatment, pumping stations, process installations and associated MEICA works.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving commercial performance across a portfolio of projects, ensuring robust cost control, contract administration, risk management and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of multiple water and wastewater MEICA projects.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow and cost reporting.
- Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
- Oversee subcontract procurement, negotiations and account management.
- Prepare valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Identify, manage and mitigate commercial risks and opportunities.
- Support project delivery teams with commercial guidance and decision‑making.
- Manage compensation events, variations and change control processes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders.
- Mentor and support commercial team members where required.
Candidate Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor role.
- Strong background in water, utilities, civil engineering, M&E or MEICA projects.
- Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial management principles.
- Demonstrable experience managing project costs from award through to final account.
- Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Desirable Experience
- Water and wastewater treatment project experience.
- Experience working within framework contracts.
- Professional membership or chartered status (MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent).
