A part time(22.5 hours per week), permanent Band 6Occupational Therapistrole has becomeavailable within the Community Based Neuro Rehab Team and Earlier SupportedDischarge Team for Strokeworking across the East of Berkshire.
You will work alongside a supportiveandforward thinkingteam within the East localitycomprisinga Band 7 Occupational Therapist,Neuro Psychologists, Physiotherapists, Speech & Language Therapists & Stroke Nurses. The team delivers aninterdisciplinary approach to Stroke Rehabilitation working closely with our acute partners, socialservicesand the voluntary sector.
The East Early Supported Discharge Team forms part of the wider Community Based Neuro Rehab where you will be part of a network ofNeuro SpecialistOTs who have an established in-service training programme and work together on innovative service development projects such as Visual Rehab and Driving Pathways.There is support for personal growth and development of clinical skillswithin Neuro Rehabilitation.
You willvisit patientsin their own homes so you willrequire a driving license and daily access to a vehicle to travel between patients. You will complete solo visits as a lone worker as well as joint visits with Therapy Assistants and other professionals.
Main duties of the job
* Use specialist Occupational Therapy skills for patients with Neurological Conditions and work with other members of the MDT to maximise rehab outcomes for patients and support them to achieve meaningful goals
* Responsible for assessment, differential diagnosis, formulation of treatment plans and writing of full and clear clinical records and assessment reports, reflecting clinical reasoning
* Work with other agencies and services to support patients in the management of their condition including their care, social, postural and equipment needs
* Work together with members of the team across the MDT to support clinical decision making around patient care and triage of new referrals
* Contribute service development projects, evaluation and audit
* Supervision, training and support of other Therapy Assistants and students
* Work with other OT s and the MDT on servicedevelopment projects,supporttrainingand clinical excellence within the team with the support of senior colleagues
* Responsibility for maintaining own competency and effectiveness of practise through relevant CPD, knowledge of clinical guidelines and research
* Maintain a high level of professional responsibility by following relevant trust and professional standards and policies
Qualifications and experience
* Qualified Occupational Therapist
* Health Care Professions Council Registration
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Car driver with access to a vehicle for daily use to travel to patients homes
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* HCPC Registration
* COT Membership
* Membership of Relevant Special Interest Group
Continuous Professional Development
* Post-graduate training in a relevant clinical speciality such as: 1. Accredited courses in Cognitive impairment 2. Accredited courses in Perceptual impairment OR 3. Accreditation of Practice Educators (APPLE)
Previous Experience
* Post graduate experience within a neurologicalservice
* Experience of supervising staff
* Experience of appraising staff
* Experience of Multidisciplinary /Interdisciplinary teamworking
* Experience of audits
* Experience of research methods
* Experience of liaising with social care in the UK
* Minimum of 6 years post graduate experience
* Minimum of 2 years experience as a senior Occupational Therapist
* Experience of formal and informal teaching

Salary & Contract
£41,957 to £50,387 a year per annum, pro rata (incl. of HCAS). Permanent contract. Part-time.
