About the job:
This role will be pivotal to the successful introduction of the 175 fleet in the West Region. The primary purpose of the role is to support the West Guards team in the introduction of 175 traction and the training and assessment of guards, with the processes to enable delivery of a safe railway, optimal train performance, business excellence and efficiency by ensuring the ongoing efficient and successful implementation of the Guards Team 175 Strategy.
Your main responsibilities will be:
* Working in conjunction with the West Region Guards Management Team, Class 175 Project Team, and Rosters to ensure training targets and the needs of the business are delivered.
* Formulating and implementing various training plans
* The coordination and administration of training activities including introducing a system of work that delivers a regional resource and streamlines delivery of the project.
* Supporting the training delivery team in maintaining robust training management systems and processes.
* Assisting in creating and maintaining training activity records, updating training records held on ACMS, and ensuring information is accurate and up to date and producing reports as required.
* Produce regular reports on training progress to agreed timescales.
* Coordinate all administration and communication related to guard 175 training.
You'll need to be:
* An organised, effective, and efficient planner.
* Knowledgeable about the GWR traction, network, and train service
* A strong team player
* Able to prioritise workload whilst working to varying timescales and deadlines
* Good at building relationships across different levels of the business
* Well-organised and able to use your initiative
* Qualified as an assessor, or willing to gain qualification
As a minimum you'll need to have:
* Excellent organising and planning skills
* Project management experience
* Strong communication skills
* An ability to solve problems in a calm and systematic way.
* Previous experience working in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong IT skills
* Currently holds a Guards Competence and has worked as an experienced guard for at least two years.
About the location:
This position is based in the West Region, but travel across the network will be required
