Overview\n\nOur new specialist education provision is dedicated to supporting learners aged 16-25 with complex behavioural needs. We provide a nurturing, flexible, and individualised learning environment that addresses therapeutic needs and ensures each learner reaches their fullpotential. The Subject Tutor role is essential in delivering a sensory-rich, emotionally supportive, and person-centred learning experience that fosters independence, well-being, and inclusivity.\n\nThe Role\n\n· Providing high-quality, person-centred teaching and learning tailored to the individual\n\nneeds of learners with complex behavioural challenges.\n\n· Collaborating with the progression tutor and other professionals to integrate holistic\n\nlearning strategies that address emotional regulation and social development.\n\n· Supporting learners in developing independence, health and well-being, and\n\nemployability skills through personalised and meaningful learning pathways.\n\n· Creating and adapting differentiated learning resources to ensure accessibility for all\n\nlearners, regardless of ability level.\n\n· Maintaining a safe, structured, and emotionally supportive environment that promotes\n\nlearners’ confidence and self-esteem.\n\n· Monitoring, evaluating, and assessing learner progress, ensuring that learning\n\noutcomes align with personalised goals.\n\n· Maintaining own standards of performance to be good or better in all key aspects of the role and proactively seeking support when standards are less than good\n\n· Teaching and learning, and assessment reflect best practices in SEND education and\n\ninclusivity\n\n· Engaging in continuous professional development to stay informed about best practices in SEND education, therapeutic interventions, and inclusive teaching strategies.\n\nDesired Outcomes\n\n· Learners experience a highly engaging, sensory-rich, and therapeutic learning\n\nenvironment.\n\n· Improved emotional well-being, independence, and progression for all learners.\n\n· Personalised learning plans effectively meet the diverse and complex needs of each\n\nlearner.\n\n· Learners demonstrate increased engagement, confidence, and positive behaviours.\n\nOther dimensions of the role\n\n· Day-to-day direction and supervision of Learning Mentors in the learning environment.\n\n· Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic learner support\n\n· Developing and maintaining positive relationships with families, caregivers, and external support services.\n\nEssential Skills\n\nApplicants should hold a Teaching qualification (Education and Training Level 4 or equivalent) or have a willingness to work towards within an agreed time frame\n\n· English and Maths level 2 or willingness to work towards in an agreed time frame\n\n· TAQA level 3 or willingness to work towards within an agreed time frame\n\n· Strong knowledge of inclusive teaching strategies that support learners with\n\ncomplex behavioural needs and learning difficulties in reaching their potential.\n\n· Ability to differentiate and modify teaching approaches to ensure accessibility\n\nfor all learners in a sensory-rich learning environment.\n\n· Experience of the development and delivery of subject related aspects of a\n\nStudy Programme to a good or better standard.\n\n· Experience of contextualising and embedding English, maths, employment,\n\nhealth and well-being and independence targets.\n\n· Working with young people and adults to overcome barriers to learning\n\n· A sound knowledge and understanding of all basic aspects of planning and\n\ndelivering on post-16 study programmes.\n\n· Knowledge of working with young people and adults to overcome barriers to\n\nlearning, particularly those with complex behavioural needs.\n\n· Understanding of how to use Individual Communication Plans, Positive\n\nBehaviour Support Plans and other Multi-Disciplinary Team reports to plan\n\nand support positive outcomes for individual learners\n\n· Have a positive outlook and a ‘can do’ solution-based approach to problem solving\n\nand driving forward improvements to ensure learner achievement\n\nThis position is based within a modern purpose built facility.\n\nWorking Monday to Friday / 37.50 hours per week.\n\nAdditional benefits
