Looking for a rewarding summer role outdoors?
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team at Kingsbury Water Park for the summer months.
Based in the north of the county, this role covers Kingsbury Water Park, Pooley Country Park and Hartshill Hayes – all carefully managed to balance the needs of visitors with the protection of wildlife and natural habitats.
This is a 3-month fixed-term position, running until September 2026.
The Role
As our Assistant Ranger, working weekends and bank holidays in all weathers, you’ll be using work vehicles to travel across the parks, helping to promote and assist visitors’ enjoyment of the countryside. Excellent customer service is at the heart of what we do, and being confident and welcoming with members of the public from all walks of life is an essential part of the role. Working within a team, your duties will include practical habitat management, public access works, site compliance, and safety checks. You will also lead events and school visits; ensure our parks are clean and tidy, carrying out routine maintenance as required; lead and manage volunteer groups and act as a bailiff for the fishery at Kingsbury Water Park. You may also be required to work at other parks across the county and work additional hours.
Key requirements
* Experience of working or volunteering in a country park setting or similar
* Excellent customer service skills
* Practical countryside skills including the use of hand tools, brush cutters or ride‑on mowers
* Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work under pressure are also required
Fluency Duty
The Fluency Duty is outlined in the Code of Practice on the English language requirements for public sector workers. The Fluency Duty for this role is Required. You must be able to speak and provide advice in accurate spoken English to the public.
