We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in estimation, who thrives in a dynamic environment and is committed to delivering high-quality tender submissions for both private and public works. Regular travel to Ireland will be required as projects are a mix of UK and Ireland.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Review incoming tender documentation and ensure relevant team members are briefed accordingly.
* Prepare and issue requests for pricing from subcontractors and suppliers, including scope outlines and any necessary supporting information.
* Follow up with supply chain partners to ensure timely return of quotations, maintaining an up-to-date enquiry tracker.
* Collaborate with colleagues to raise and respond to clarifications or queries during the tender process.
* Identify missing information or gaps in the tender and address them through clarification notes and estimator comments.
* Assist in developing risk registers and identifying potential value engineering options.
* Analyse returned prices and tenders to assess competitiveness and completeness.
* Prepare detailed cost reports for internal tender review, highlighting both cost risks and savings opportunities.
* Compile the full tender submission, including commercial documentation, bills of quantities, and completed forms.
* Review supply chain performance quarterly.
* Attend pre-qualification, mid-tender, and post-tender interviews.
* Attend site visits.
* Prepare tender supporting documentation, spec docs, methodologies, and PQQs as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* At least 6 years experience in estimating or quantity surveying roles within the construction industry.
* Experience in both private and public works tenders and SAQ submissions.
* Strong attention to detail, with excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
* Comfortable working with Microsoft Office tools; experience with estimating software.
* Up-to-date knowledge of construction methods, materials, and market rates.
* Proven ability to take responsibility for cost assessments and financial accuracy.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Confident working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
* Ability to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
