Overview
We are looking for an architect with a background in Communications or Space Technology to support ground segment software and network solutions for SatCom customers. The role is hybrid, based in Leatherhead, Reading, London, Bristol or Leicester as base-office. Some short trips to Europe may be required for customer meetings. You will need UK Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain clearance. You will join an existing architecture team as a senior member and will work across projects with existing clients as well as respond to RFPs with potential new clients.
As the System Architect, you will define the solution and system architecture (including models, decisions, validation, evolution and delivery support), work with the customer and subcontractors to identify, trade-off and design the overall architecture. Architects assist with the overall strategy and business chase activities, working with multiple stakeholders. The Software Architect will also create high level artefacts to be delivered to the customer.
Responsibilities
* Define the solution and system architecture, including models, decisions, validation, evolution and delivery support.
* Collaborate with customers and subcontractors to identify, trade-off, and design the overall architecture.
* Contribute to the overall strategy and business development activities; respond to RFPs with potential new clients.
* Develop high level artefacts to be delivered to the customer.
* Work across projects with existing clients in the SatCom domain, supporting ground segment software and network solutions (network management, operations support, mission planning).
Qualifications
* At least 5 years of recent Satellite or Wireless communications Software or network Architecture.
* Degree in Maths, Physics, Computer Science or similar.
* Experience in designing high-level architectures using standardized approaches and tools, requirements management and technical specifications.
* Experience of the development and testing lifecycle.
* Experience of developing to stringent standards (Space, Defence standards, etc.).
* Ability to lead others in technical work.
* Highly desirable: experience in RF communications, OSS/BSS, satellite modem/terminal software, or VSAT platforms; understanding of cyber-security practices; use of reference models and Space Standards; experience with Agile and DevOps approaches.
Location and Clearance
Hybrid role; base-office locations include Leatherhead, Reading, London, Bristol or Leicester. Some short trips to Europe may be required. UK Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance is required.
