Contract Type: Permanent

Working Hours: 37 hours per week

Worker Type: Hybrid Worker

Salary: Starting Salary is £40,777 (Level one) rising to £44,075 per annum (pro‑rata for part‑time) (Pay award pending)

Location: Loxley House, Station Street, Nottingham NG2 3NG

About The Role

Nottingham City Council’s Multi Systemic Therapy Child Abuse and Neglect (MST CAN) Team are looking for an MST CAN Therapist to join our team. MST CAN is a home‑based intensive treatment for families with children and young people subject to a Child Protection Plan under the category of neglect or physical harm. It is an evidence‑based treatment developed to work with families with complex needs, increasing safety and keeping children at home.

MST CAN adopts an intensive approach with numerous sessions per week and works with families in their natural ecology – at home, school and the wider community rather than in a clinical setting. Appointments are made to meet each family’s needs, and an MST CAN practitioner is available 24/7 to all families in treatment through an on‑call facility.

You will have a professional qualification in a relevant field such as social work, mental health nursing, clinical/forensic psychology, health specialism or an equivalent. You should also have experience and knowledge of Cognitive‑Behavioural Therapy and/or pragmatic behavioural interventions. Full training and continuous professional development in the MST CAN model will be provided. Therapists receive weekly supervision from the MST CAN Manager and clinical consultation from MST Services.

About You

* Qualified to postgraduate level in a relevant field (e.g., social work, mental health nursing, clinical/forensic psychology, health specialism or equivalent).
* Strong understanding and practical experience of the case‑management process including assessment, analysis, planning, intervention and review, demonstrating how it promotes good outcomes for children and families.
* Significant experience of family‑based interventions with young people.
* Experience of direct use of a therapeutic model with families, e.g., CBT, SFBT, systemic family therapy or behavioural approaches.
* Demonstrable experience of safeguarding and risk management for children and young people as they relate to this work.
* DBS enhanced check required for this post.
* Participation in the on‑call rota.

Benefits

* 26 days annual leave (rising to 33 days after 5 years of service) + bank holidays, with the ability to buy additional leave annually
* Access to a generous defined‑benefit pension scheme offering 17.9%
* Smart Working support for work‑life balance
* Health and wellbeing benefits, including access to the Employee Assistance Programme
* Discounted membership at selected local sports and fitness centres, cinema, shopping and more

We are a fair and inclusive employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds and with different abilities.
