Law Medical is seeking to recruit a Pharmacy Technician to join its multidisciplinary primary care team. The role will support the safe, effective, and cost-efficient management of medicines within the practice, working closely with GPs, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
The Pharmacy Technician will support medicines optimisation processes, including prescription management, medication reconciliation, and audits, while providing technical and administrative support related to medicines use. The post holder will also play an active role in supporting the wider multidisciplinary team and contributing to the ongoing development and objectives of the practice.
Main duties of the job
The Pharmacy Technician will support Structured Medication Reviews (SMRs) under the supervision of a pharmacist or GP, reconcile medicines following hospital discharges or outpatient visits, and provide patients with guidance on the safe and effective use of their medications. They will manage and process repeat prescriptions, conduct medicines audits, and assist with technical and administrative tasks across the practice teams. The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring effective communication within the multidisciplinary team to support high-quality patient care.

Job responsibilities
* Support the delivery of Structured Medication Reviews (SMRs) in collaboration with clinical pharmacists and GPs.
* Reconcile medicines following hospital discharge, outpatient appointments, or changes in therapy.
* Provide counselling and advice to patients on the safe and effective use of their medicines.
* Manage and process repeat prescriptions in line with practice protocols.
* Conduct medicines audits and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
* Support the implementation of prescribing safety and cost-efficiency initiatives.
* Work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure effective communication and safe transfer of medication information.
* Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
* Provide technical support and guidance to practice teams (particularly for Grove Village Medical Centre).
* Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to training within the network.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
* Completed or currently enrolled in an approved training programme meeting the National Competency Framework for Primary Care Pharmacy Technicians (e.g., PCPEP).
* Demonstrated experience in medicines optimisation, reconciliation, and patient counselling.
* Good understanding of prescribing processes within primary care.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
