Buyer Role Overview
Business Centre (BC)
The Buyer plays a critical role in supporting the Business Centre's (BC) ability to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to a high standard of customer satisfaction. The Buyer is responsible for both tactical procurement activities and contributing to strategic sourcing initiatives, with a strong focus on cost control, supply chain development, and internal stakeholder support.
Engineering and manufacturing experience is desirable to understand technical specifications, evaluate supplier capabilities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Workload Management
Effectively manage and prioritise purchasing tasks based on evolving customer demands and internal project timelines.
* Performance Analysis & Reporting
Monitor and report purchasing KPIs, providing insights that support the Senior Buyer in making informed strategic decisions.
* Cost Control
Meet or exceed purchasing budget targets for materials and components, directly contributing to improved project margins.
* Domestic Supply Chain Development
Strengthen the domestic supply base, including subcontract manufacturers, to enhance delivery performance, cost-efficiency, and quality.
* Global Sourcing Integration
Align UK purchasing efforts with the global supplier network to leverage broader sourcing opportunities and efficiencies.
* Internal Collaboration
Support cross-functional teams with accurate and timely price and delivery information to ensure competitive client proposals.
* Quality & Production Alignment
Work closely with Production and QA teams to ensure all procured goods meet company standards and specifications.
* Cost-Saving Initiatives
Champion cost-reduction strategies and foster a global, value-driven purchasing culture within the BC.
* Strategic Supplier Planning
Develop and maintain a long-term plan to build a network of reliable, low-cost, and high-quality global suppliers.
* Supplier Visits & Audits
Conduct on-site supplier evaluations and assessments to strengthen and diversify the supply network.
* Travel Requirements
Domestic and international travel may be required to support supplier development, assessment, and global sourcing efforts.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £30,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
Experience:
* Engineering or Manufacturing Buying: 3 years (preferred)
