Rhomberg Sersa UK is part of the Rhomberg Sersa Group, a global leader in rail infrastructure solutions. In the UK, we specialise in Permanent Way, Slab Track, SLS technology, and operate a comprehensive fleet of On-Track Machines and Plant.
We work closely with our sister company, Rhomberg Bahntechnik, to design and deliver innovative rail projects across Europe and the Nordics. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile international projects, including those based in Copenhagen, the Nordic region, and Germany. There is also the opportunity to work with our Joint Venture Partners in Northern Ireland.
About the Role
The Estimator plays a strategic and operational role in the tendering process for rail projects. The position is pivotal in ensuring the company secures profitable and compliant contracts by preparing competitive bids and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
This is a dynamic role involving a mix of office-based work, site visits, and occasional European travel.
Key Responsibilities
* Identify and coordinate opportunities, proposals, and bids
* Manage multiple tenders and allocate resources effectively
* Engage with clients to understand project requirements
* Analyse drawings, specifications, and rail regulations
* Produce detailed quantity take-offs and cost estimates
* Coordinate bid inputs across departments
* Align cost and risk management strategies
* Build strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
* Lead tender reviews and prepare quality submissions
Skills and Experience
Skills & Behaviours:
* Excellent time management and multitasking
* Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
* High IT literacy, including estimating tools
* Confident presenter and team collaborator
Qualifications & Experience:
* BSc in Construction Management or equivalent
* Member of RICS, ACostE, ICES, or similar
* Experience in rail industry tendering and bid coordination
* Knowledge of rail-specific contracts and standards
