Role Overview
Senior Project Planner to support delivery of a Grid/GGP substation upgrade scheme in Chesterfield, within the Power & Energy sector.
Responsibilities
* Ensure all programmes comply with project requirements and develop a logical sequence of events for an economical construction strategy.
* Carry out pre‑contract planning and work winning processes to produce bid programmes and time‑related information as part of a tender bid team.
* Analyse performance and advise the project team of likely impact and recommend improvements.
* Contribute to risks, opportunities and commercial implications of a tender bid.
* Present time‑related material using a variety of techniques and methods, providing effective communication and high‑quality submission and presentation material.
* Develop and produce processes and systems to manage contracts for more complex projects.
* Conduct forensic analysis of programme data and interface with client teams to build effective relationships.
* Apply comprehensive knowledge of different contract types to ensure control measures align with contract risk and optimise commercial opportunities.
* Develop and introduce advanced project management techniques to the business and establish them for use on complex projects.
Qualifications and Experience
* Degree‑qualified (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
* Experience with 4D planning and modelling, preferably using Asta and P6 to a high standard.
* Ability to analyse, collate and utilise data for reporting and forecasting.
* Ability to prioritise tasks and determine the required level of accuracy.
* Strong analytical skills to spot trends and issues in production data.
* Solid on‑site engineering delivery experience with hands‑on involvement in live projects.
* Experience in structural engineering and related construction phases.
* Proven experience in developing programmes from first principles, ensuring accuracy and alignment with construction methodologies.
Leadership Skills
* Lead the planning function on a project.
* Manage resources: recruitment, development, coaching and mentoring.
* Develop business advancement and improvement agendas.
* Maintain programme and related materials.
* Ensure quality and accuracy of work of the highest calibre.
