NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this post are 37 hours per week.

Inverclyde HSCP would welcome candidates for a Team Lead Clinical Nurse Specialist in school nursing. The candidates should be a qualified Specialist Public Health Nurse with experience of child protection and vulnerability. The school nursing service works as part of a multidisciplinary team within Inverclyde HSCP and operates an open access service to families and communities within home, community and primary care settings and target groups such as school aged children and young people and vulnerable families. This role will be split across team lead responsibilities and clinical work including implementation of the new school nurse service specification.

KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB

The post holder will possess:

1. First level NURSING registration
2. Specialist Community Public Health Nursing School Nurse or Public Health Nurse Degree on 3rd part of the Nursing and Midwifery Council register
3. Evidence of ongoing post registration personal/ continuous professional development (CPD)
4. Evidence of CPD to include participation in essential CAMHS training and modules provided by Higher

Educational Institutions to support implementation of nationally agreed refocused School Nursing role.

5. Current Driving Licence
6. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current Public Health Initiatives at national and local levels.
7. Knowledge of Getting it Right for every Child and the Children and Young Person (Scotland) Act 2014
8. Knowledge of relevant Sign Guidelines/Best Practice Statements
9. Knowledge and understanding of current Child Protection National and Local Guidelines
10. Experience of working with children and young people

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
