This is an exciting opportunity for a midwife to join the North Ceredigion community midwifery team. Covering a wide geographical area from Tregaron and New Quay in the south, to Eglwys Fach in the North, the team work from their base in Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth, as well as several community hubs and GP surgeries across the area.
This award winning team is passionate about providing continuity of carer, promoting choice, supporting home birth and facilitating antenatal education. The team are extremely supportive and encouraging of each other, and believe it is important to foster close and trusting working relationships within the team, in order to provide the best care for women and birthing people. They also prioritise enabling one another to develop and progress within their roles, and complete additional training to improve their service.
Ceredigion is a beautiful area in West Wales, located on the cardigan bay coast. Sandy beaches, dolphin spotting, the Wales Coastal path and rural rugged mountains are all on the doorstep. There are many diverse towns and villages within the North Ceredigion team area, ranging from small farming communities to large university towns.
Main duties of the job
You will be the lead care coordinator for women and birthing people on your caseload, providing individualised care at home and in community antenatal clinics.
The team support the midwifery and obstetric unit in Bronglais during times of high acuity by providing on call cover, which also enables a home birth service to be provided. Antenatal education is an important aspect of the role, as the team offer 5 different options for women and birthing people.
You will also be the co-ordinator of care for high-risk pregnancies working closely with the multi-disciplinary teams to ensure a high quality seamless service.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
