Overview

Contract Manager - Nottingham. Full time, 40 hours per week. Salary £35,000-£40,000 per annum. Location: Nottingham. Permanent, Full Time.

Glendale Countryside, the green services division of Alston Investments Ltd, has revenues of circa £50 million and operates throughout the UK. The role

The Contract Manager reports to the Regional Director. The role requires a critical thinker and leader who can build relationships with stakeholders, take initiative and continually improve operational activity within their contract. The role focuses on operational efficiency, team organisation, cost minimisation and ensuring high quality across the portfolio of sites and services offered.


Key Responsibilities

* Contribute fully to effective planning and delivery of the operational teams within the contract area.
* Participate and innovate in securing the long-term future of the contract region.
* Maintain and build relations with existing clients through regular client meetings, recording outcomes and actions.
* Provide day-to-day leadership to meet local and national objectives.
* Direct the operational activity of the business to meet requirements as set by the Managing Director.
* Maintain a sound organisational structure, assist in recruiting, training and motivating staff within the operating area.
* Monitor performance through agreed reporting procedures and safeguard the company’s image and credibility.
* Take responsibility for QESH, ensuring operational teams and systems meet BS EN 45001 and participate in maintaining and improving the company QESH culture.
* Monitor contract financials and reporting procedures; assist the Regional Director in budget setting.
* Ensure quality standards and application of the company’s Quality Management systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001) and PAS 55 processes.


Day-to-day focus

* Operational planning and service delivery.
* Oversee smooth running of the contract.
* Maintain work planning and field management IT systems (Glendale Live) and daily updates.
* Evaluate productivity, and organise maintenance of vehicles and machinery.
* Assess products and services for maximum efficiency.
* Financial reporting including forecasts of sales, costs and profits; review management accounts and monthly forecasts.
* Review stock levels; liaise with clients on programmes, value, payment dates and invoicing.
* Inspect and certify completed works; conduct quality audits and close out actions.
* Support tender opportunities and pricing of work and contracts.
* Determine staffing levels and ensure effective team management; maintain employee records.
* Evaluate vehicle and machinery requirements and maintain them per company systems and manufacturers’ recommendations.
* Implement and monitor the company’s health & safety policy and procedures; champion QESH compliance and continuous improvement.
* Liaise with customers to agree programmes of work, discuss technical matters and resolve issues; identify additional work if applicable.
* Any other duties relevant to the role as required.

The role is not exhaustive; you may be required to undertake other duties reasonably required by the company.


Knowledge, Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will have a demonstrable track record as a manager of large landscaping, construction or environmental improvement contracts with operational awareness in the support services sector, with at least 5 years of experience.


Qualifications

A nationally recognised academic arboriculture/horticultural/construction qualification at NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, for example:

* The National Certificate (BTEC or EdExcel) – NVQ Level 3
* The Advanced National Certificate
* The National Diploma
* The Higher National Certificate or Diploma – NVQ Level 4
* A Foundation Degree
* A Bachelor of Sciences degree – NVQ Level 5
* A Masters degree – NVQ Level 5+

A full, clean driving licence is an essential requirement for this role.
