Overview

The role

You must have a valid HCPC pin to be considered for this post. We are looking for an Advanced Specialist Occupational Therapist with expertise, skills, and postgraduate training in learning disabilities and/or neurodevelopmental conditions to become part of our dynamic and committed Specialist Children’s Services Occupational Therapy team. In this fulfilling role, you’ll be an essential member of our Occupational Therapy Leadership Team, leading innovative initiatives in a multidisciplinary setting. We value your specialist knowledge and expertise as well as your passion for working with children, young people and their carers. We’re seeking applicants who combine clinical proficiency with an enthusiastic, forward‑thinking approach for our growing service.


Duration, location, and working pattern

* Location to be confirmed with the successful candidate
* Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00
* Fixed‑term until 10th January 2028
* Please note the salary is pro‑rata for part‑time hours


Key responsibilities

This position follows the guidelines set out in Transforming Roles Paper 9: Allied Health Professions Advanced Practice, highlighting advanced clinical knowledge, leadership, education, and research to deliver high‑quality, person‑focused care. As an Advanced Practice Occupational Therapist with experience in learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental conditions, you will play a key role in shaping our services, driving innovation, and supporting your colleagues through mentorship and collaboration. Your leadership and dedication will have a direct impact on better outcomes for children and young people with complex needs, ensuring care is informed by current evidence and best practices.


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

We support your professional development with a thorough induction that covers both Occupational Therapy‑specific and cross‑disciplinary perspectives, ongoing CPD opportunities, dedicated supervision, and a culture focused on reflective practice and evidence‑based care. You’ll also play a crucial part in developing future practitioners through our student placement programme, sharing your expert insights and skills.
