Part-time: Considered for the right applicant

Are you passionate about helping young people discover their strengths, overcome challenges, and reach their full potential? We’re looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with ASC to join our welcoming team at Brookthorpe Hall School in Gloucester.

At Options Autism, we believe that every pupil deserves the chance to thrive in an environment built on care, creativity, and connection. If you’re motivated by the idea of changing lives through education, we’d love to hear from you.

About the Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of everything we do. You’ll work closely with teachers and therapists to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and independence in every pupil.

Each day will bring variety — from supporting classroom learning to leading outdoor sessions, 1:1 interventions, and enrichment activities that spark joy and progress. Most importantly, you’ll help our pupils feel seen, supported, and capable of achieving amazing things.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Supporting pupils with complex needs to achieve their learning and personal goals
2. Helping to plan and deliver engaging, practical lessons that promote active learning
3. Providing emotional and physical support to help pupils feel safe, valued, and understood
4. Encouraging independence, self-confidence, and positive social interactions
5. Assisting with outdoor learning, enrichment opportunities, and off-site trips
6. Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and colleagues to deliver consistent, high-quality support
7. Growing your own skills through regular training and professional development

Who we’re looking for:

8. A caring, patient, and adaptable individual who thrives in a team environment
9. Someone ready to take on a variety of classroom and outdoor roles, tailored to each pupil’s needs
10. A positive, resilient person who enjoys supporting young people through challenges
11. A confident communicator capable of building trusting relationships with pupils

Every day will be different — and every day, you’ll make a difference. With the support of experienced colleagues and a culture built on teamwork and care, you’ll have everything you need to flourish and grow in your career.

Application Requirement:

As part of your application, please include clear examples of your experience — particularly where you have:

12. Supported pupils 1:1 or in small groups
13. Worked with children with complex needs
14. Contributed to positive learning or behavioural outcomes
15. Collaborated effectively with colleagues

These examples will help us understand your impact and suitability for the role.

If you are ready to bring energy, creativity, and heart to a role that truly matters, then Brookthorpe Hall School is the perfect place for your next career step.
