Your new company
You will be joining a medical / healthcare organisation located in North-East Somerset outside of Bath, on a Permanent basis
Your new role
1. This role is part of the Senior Management Team and will report directly into the Director
2. You will take a proactive role in supporting innovation, continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives across the organisation, including opportunity assessments, business case development and benefits delivery tracking
3. The Head of Finance will also be expected to proactively support knowledge-sharing around the organisation\'s finances across the organisation and Trust
4. 4 x direct reports in the role - 13 in total
5. Required on-site minimum 2 days per week, depending on location / where you are based
6. FP&A - Develop the financial framework for the setting of short and long-term business plans within the organisation, including the annual budget setting
7. Review financial and operational performance of the organisation against KPIs and analyse the risks and opportunities for the hospital's business strategy
8. Financial Stewardship & Control - Maintain and review finance policies for the organisation and ensure that financial controls and processes are adhered to across the hospital to ensure good financial governance
9. Responsible for the oversight of Treasury Management, leading the financial services team lead by the Financial Accountant - ensuring transactional postings are accurate and timely, and ensuring all balance sheet control accounts are reconciled
10. Financial and BI Reporting - Lead the Management Accountant in the preparation of monthly set of Management Accounts for the hospital, ready for reporting to the Senior Management Team, Executive Board and Trust Shareholders
11. Stakeholder Engagement - As a member of the Senior Management Team, this role will be required to engage with employees and other stakeholders across the hospital and provide leadership support, not necessarily finance focussed
12. Monitor the effectiveness of the Finance Team to ensure sustainable resources are in place to manage the workload in the most effective and efficient manner
What you'll need to succeed
13. You must be fully Qualified and have Right To Work in the UK, with post-qualification experience (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
14. Minimum 5 years post-qualified
15. Significant, relevant experience in a senior finance role, with experience of managing a finance team
16. Experience of working in healthcare and knowledge of NHS financial frameworks is highly preferable
17. Familiar with all aspects of management accounts and budget preparation, including forecasting
18. Experience in statutory annual accounts preparation and Companies House filing
19. Project Management skills
20. Confident with large volumes of data
21. Comfortable and experienced working with key stakeholders at different levels
22. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a commercial mindset
23. The ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate analysis and options for decision-making
24. Excellent interpersonal skills and able to develop good relationships with colleagues
25. Advanced IT and Excel skills
26. Strong attention to detail
27. Ability to work to tight deadlines
