Technical Author - Inorganic chemicals - UK BAT - 32437

Large Volume Inorganic Chemicals (LVIC) installations are required to use ‘Best Available Techniques’ (BAT) to reduce emissions to air, water and land. The UK BAT Author leads the definition of BAT within the UK, using a transparent, collaborative, data‑ and evidence‑led process that safeguards and builds on the current high levels of environmental protection.
Responsibilities
* Draft BAT Conclusions, liaising with Technical Working Groups and presenting a final document suitable for publication as a new, UK‑wide, environmental standard for industry.
* Work with, and write technical documents.
* Manage projects and drive completion.
* Travel and overnight stays may be required.
Qualifications
* Specialist knowledge and understanding of the LVIC industry.
* Understanding of process engineering, environmental issues and UK environmental legislation and policy.
* Capability of critically analysing technical arguments and data.
* Experience in technical writing.
* Good project management skills and a drive to complete.
Experience
* At least 5 years working experience in environmental regulation within the LVIC industry.
* Expertise in the large volume inorganic chemicals industry.
* Knowledge of UK and EU industrial environmental legislation, including the IED and the Environmental Permitting Regulations.
Skills
* Collection and technical analysis of complex industrial data.
* Understanding the implications of BAT Conclusions on permits, industry and the environment.
* Verbal and written communication.
* Building and maintaining relationships.
* Planning, prioritising and organising tasks and resources to ensure timely and effective results.
* Responding flexibly to challenges and building consensus.
* Working effectively with people from different backgrounds and cultures, encouraging diversity within the workplace.
