SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Barking and Dagenham Role: SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Autism SupportStart Date: June 2025Contract: Long-term, Full-time Salary: £90 - £100 per day (depending on experience)
Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for making a real difference in the lives of children with Autism?Do you have school-based SEN experience and want to work in well-resourced, inclusive primary schools in Romford.
Tradewind Recruitment are working with primary schools offering nurturing and inclusive environments where Learning and Support Assistants play a vital role in supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). These schools provide tailored, high-quality SEND provisions, including individualised learning plans and targeted interventions designed to help every child thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant Will Have:
* Previous experience working with Autism (ASD) or Special Educational Needs in a school setting
* Confidence supporting pupils 1:1 or in small groups (phonics experience desirable)
* Ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and staff
* Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach
* Strong behaviour management and communication skills
* A good understanding of child development and IEP and EHCP targets
Essential Compliance for Teaching Assistants:
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
* Right to work in the UK
* Your CV must contain all work since leaving formal education
* 2 professional references (within the last 2 years)
* Overseas police check (if applicable)
