3.5 Tonne Driver with Labouring Duties - Mid & East Antrim Borough Council Mid & East Antrim Borough Council is hiring a Driver with Labouring Duties in Ballymena. This role is ideal for someone with experience in waste operations, teamwork, and customer service, supporting essential recycling and waste services for the community. About the role:
1. £14.13 per hour
2. 37 hours per week
3. Tuesday - Friday
4. Given the nature of their duties, the post holder may be expected to work outside of these hours at weekends, evenings and public holidays as dictated by the needs of the service.
5. Duration: 3 months with a possible extension
What you will be doing in this role:
6. Carry out pre-use checks before driving any vehicle, completing and returning a vehicle pre-use check report to the postholder’s line manager as instructed.
7. Driving all vehicles in accordance with the appropriate licence and ensure the safety of Council employees and the general public by carrying out an assessment of driving conditions and adopting safe methods of working on an ongoing basis, particularly during periods of severe weather.
8. Operate and be responsible for council plant, tools and equipment in general, including but not limited to the safe use of appropriate mechanical aids, equipment and tools etc. provided to perform the relevant function e.g. clearing up spillages, ensuring safe collection and waste disposal and ensuring they are kept in good condition at all times.
9. Ensure on-board systems including weighing, safety devices, in-cab devices, telematics and communication systems are fully operational and used in accordance with operational procedures.
10. Open/close public toilets across the Ballymena Borough area
11. Clean and maintain all toilet facilities across the Ballymena Borough area
12. Complete deliveries across the Mid and East Antrim Borough
13. Complete all digital forms
What you'll need for this role: Applicants must be able to demonstrate, by providing personal and specific examples, that they have one years' relevant experience to include;
14. Applicants must have a valid Category B Driving Licence with a maximum of 6 penalty points and must not have been disqualified within the past 5 years
15. Applicants must have a minimum of one years’ frequent driving experience in a commercial capacity
16. Applicants must have an awareness of Health and Safety responsibilities in a work environment
