The Role We are seeking a meticulous and hands-on Fire Assay Furnace Operator to join our laboratory team. In this role, you will prepare and analyse samples using classical fire assay techniques, operate lab equipment with precision, and contribute to maintaining the high-quality standards our lab is known for. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your technical expertise in a controlled, ISO-accredited environment. About The Position Shift: 37.5 hours per week (Shifts: 6am–2pm / 1.30pm–9pm alternating, Mon–Fri) Contract: Full-time, permanent position Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Prepare and analyse samples using classical fire assay techniques, including mixing, melting, and hammering. Operate electric fusion furnaces safely and efficiently. Use a hammer and anvil to separate lead buttons with accuracy. Handle chemicals in accordance with safety protocols and manage waste disposal responsibly. Maintain strict adherence to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards, ensuring precision and quality in all work. Develop practical expertise in fire assay fusion and laboratory equipment operation under guidance from experienced technicians. Essential Requirements: Practical, confident, and proactive, with a hands-on approach to laboratory work. Previous fire assay experience is advantageous, but full training will be provided. Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset. Physically capable of handling manual tasks and comfortable working on your feet for extended periods. Exceptional attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and quality. Competent in basic IT skills, able to manage data and meet strict deadlines.
