Overview
Join our Research and Development team in Royston as a Senior Scientist. This role applies biology knowledge in an engineering environment to support product development of novel systems used in biopharmaceutical development. The position involves working in a multidisciplinary team to achieve development project aims and performing hands-on daily testing in a laboratory environment. This full-time permanent role is on-site at our Royston, Hertfordshire location.
Responsibilities
* Oversee the design and execution of experiments on a daily basis, making strategic decisions based on project priorities and ensuring completion within project timelines
* Execute biological/biochemical assays
* Ensure project objectives, including user requirements and ergonomics, are met
* Analyze results and prepare comprehensive reports summarising project progress
* Mentor and guide scientists and laboratory assistants in planning and executing experiments
* Work closely with customers and stakeholders to ensure their needs are met and communicated effectively
* Prepare and present reports, project updates, and documentation to customers and stakeholders
* Lead design reviews and contribute to the development of new systems
* Apply strategic principles to align project goals with organisational objectives, optimise resource allocation, and implement change management strategies
* Foster motivation and development among team members and collaborate with cross-functional teams
* Ensure health and safety and ISO standards are followed to ensure compliance and a safe working environment
What Will Convince Us
* PhD or Master’s degree with industry experience (Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical studies, Molecular/Cell Biology, Biochemistry or relevant field)
* Knowledge of the bioprocessing industry, mammalian cell culture, and cell/gene therapy principles
* Experience in bioprocessing in an industrial or research laboratory, including operating bioreactors
* Experience designing, planning, and executing experiments and delivering data and conclusions for group review
* Product development experience is beneficial
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
* Ability to plan own project work and meet deadlines
* Good communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
* Experience with MS Office
* Experience in MVDA and DOE principles is beneficial
* Procurement systems like SAP and Wescale are beneficial
