Role Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Estimator / Senior Estimator to join our growing pre-construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the tendering process on a mixture of single-stage and two-stage tenders, producing accurate and competitive cost plans, and supporting the business in securing high-value refurbishment projects.
You will work closely with directors, project managers, and design teams to ensure our bids reflect the quality and attention to detail that define our reputation in the high-end residential market.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare accurate cost estimates for projects up to £10m, from initial feasibility through to final submission.
Manage the full tender process, including enquiry, analysis, pricing, and submission.
Lead both single-stage and two-stage tendering processes.
Review tender documentation, drawings, and specifications to identify risks, opportunities, and value-engineering solutions.
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotations, ensuring robust supply chain engagement.
Produce detailed bills of quantities, cost breakdowns, and tender summaries.
Attend site visits, client meetings, and mid-/post-tender interviews as required.
Work collaboratively with the pre-construction and project delivery teams to ensure seamless project handover.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction techniques, market rates, and industry developments.
Support the ongoing development of estimating processes, databases, and best practices.
Key Requirements
Proven experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator, ideally within high-end residential refurbishment.
Track record of successfully estimating and securing projects in the £1m–£10m value range.
Strong knowledge of refurbishment techniques, traditional trades, and luxury fit-out works.
Experience of managing both single-stage and two-stage tenders.
Excellent commercial awareness, analytical, and numerical skills.
Strong communication and negotiation skills with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.
Proficient in estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and other relevant IT tools.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced pre-construction environment.
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline (preferred but not essential).
