Where will you be working?
We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. We enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. We’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.
This role will be within our Water and wastewater capital project delivery team. Our teams deliver large-scale capital programmes aimed at keeping water infrastructure resilient for the long-term while protecting the environment.

As our Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be working on our United Utilities AMP8 contracts in Preston. The role will cover three YW AMP8 frameworks including Infrastructure, Customer Focused and Minor Civils clean and waste water capital works. Let under NEC4 ECC option A, B, C and E contracts, projects are either allocated or under competitive tender with budgets ranging from £100k to £10m. Your remit will be to manage the commercial influences around Cost and Value reporting and ensure profit targets are met.
You'll be responsible for the procurement and management of sub-contractor applications and payments, as well as overseeing cash flow and aged debt reporting. The role is not simply about managing finances, but also involves working with a team of skilled professionals to ensure successful project outcomes.
The Quantity Surveyor working within our Commercial Team, you will be playing a vital role in the success of our projects. You thrive on being a key player in managing the financial aspects of the AMP8 frameworks. The purpose of this role is to ensure that all work completed is accurately valued and that improvements are made to enhance performance. This role would really suit somebody who is passionate about ensuring the profitability and success of projects.
In this role, you'll be part of a dedicated team, working on a variety of projects ranging from minor civil works to major infrastructure developments. You will deal with the financial aspects of the projects, including cost reporting and cash flow management. Your day to day activities will include providing sound commercial advice and being involved in the Early Warning and Compensation Event process.
What You’ll Bring
* Previous experience with Quantity Surveying, preferably gained within Utilities Contracting
* Basic understanding and previous experience of NEC contracts
* Valid UK Driving license
* Assist with the production and presentation of Monthly CVR’s/Profit and loss accounts
