Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Architectural Technician / Technologist to join our growing technical team. The successful candidate will have a strong background in new build residential housing and will play a key role in the preparation of construction information, technical design, and site support.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable supporting both live projects and developing junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed construction drawings and technical detailing for new build housing projects
* Prepare and coordinate new house types from concept through to construction stage
* Compile technical site layout packs suitable for construction and approvals
* Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, NHBC standards, and other relevant statutory requirements
* Use AutoCAD daily to produce accurate and coordinated technical information
* Respond to technical queries from site and internal teams
* Assist in coordinating information with external consultants where required
* Provide technical guidance and support to architectural/technical apprentices
* This is an office based role in our head office in Pontefract
Required Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as an Architectural Technician or Technologist
* Strong background in new build residential housing (essential)
* Excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD
* Experience producing construction-level technical drawings and details
* Good working knowledge of NHBC standards and current Building Regulations
* Understanding of residential site layouts and housing standards
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple workloads
* Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Desirable (but not essential)
* Experience working for a housebuilder or residential developer
* Knowledge of other residential warranty providers
* Experience mentoring or supporting junior staff or apprentices
