Overview
We are looking for compassionate, motivated, and dedicated individuals to join our Critical Care team as Clinical Support Workers at Heartlands Hospital and Good Hope Hospital. You will play a vital role in supporting nurses and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high-quality care to critically ill patients and their families. You will need to be able to work our normal shift patterns, starting at 0730hrs or 1930hrs which will include weekends and some public holidays. The minimal working hours per week will be 23hrs. Previous experience in a healthcare role is essential for this position. Testing for Math and English if required will be arranged prior to interview.

Main duties of the job
* Participate in the delivery of personal patient centred care, always maintaining a compassionate and professional attitude with patients, their families and carers.
* Support the clinical team in preparing and maintaining equipment in line with infection prevention and control standards.
* Offer reassurance and emotional support to patients and their families during what can often be a difficult time.
* Communicate with people, their families and carers, colleagues and other staff using effective and non-discriminatory communication taking account of differences, capability and needs of individuals.

Person Specification
Qualifications – Essential
* Successful completion of Trust based numeracy & literacy test or evidence of Maths/English qualifications at Level 2 or above.
* Vocational qualification at level 2 or equivalent relevant experience.
* Level 2 examples: GCSE Grades 9-4 (A-C), Level 2 Diploma in health care support/NVQ, Functional Skills Level 2.
* Internationally educated applicants must evidence UK ENIC Statements of compatibility.
Qualifications – Desirable
* Care Certificate or demonstration of skills, knowledge and experience meeting the 15 minimum standards described by Health Education England (HEE) Skills for Health.
Experience – Essential
* Experience of working/participating as part of a team as an employee/volunteer.
* Ability to demonstrate understanding of the role and tasks involved and describe the physical and emotional aspects of the role.
* Ability to link the Trust values (Kind, Bold, Connected) to the role with examples from personal experience.
* Ability to explain why training/education and approaches to care need to be consistent in relation to safety and patient experience.
Experience – Desirable
* Experience in a person centred/facing role in a paid or voluntary capacity.
* Understanding of safeguarding principles related to this role.
Additional Criteria – Essential
* Flexible approach to shift patterns and place of work, including working in different practice settings in different locations depending on service need.
